SUMMARY:Surround and Beyond: Discussion and Listening Party
DESCRIPTION:Bring out your surround\, 5.1\, quad and other immersive audio\, whether it’s sound designs or songs\, whole and segments\, polished tunes or works in progress\, to share and discuss at the AES San Francisco immersive listening party at Michael Romanowski’s Coast Mastering on Friday\, August 11\, 2017. \nThis event is focused on immersive audio\, with a guided discussion on surround technologies. We’re asking attendees to bring a recording to share\, preferably in a surround format\, although stereo recordings for those aspiring to move into surround are also welcome. We’ll be set up to play files and discs. \nCoast Mastering is in the Zaentz Media Center in Berkeley. Formerly known as Studio C\, Coast’s recently-built mastering rooms were designed and tuned by acoustician Bob Hodas and feature speakers by Focal\, VTL monoblock tube amplifiers\, A/D/A conversion by Bricasti and Metric Halo\, ATR tape machines\, and all-analog mastering chains with gear by Masalec\,  Knif\, Esoteric Audio Research\, GML and more. \nSeating is limited\, so advance signups are required and information has been sent to our membership email list.\n \nSchedule: \n7:00pm Mixer with snacks\n7:30pm Begin listening \nNote: The entry to Coast Mastering is on the Parker Street side of the building. \nStreet parking recommended\, as the parking lot across the street gets locked at 9pm. Please do not park in the Fantasy Studios/Zaentz Media Center parking lot.
