SUMMARY:Bach's St. Matthew Passion with David Bowles & Conductor Nicholas McGegan
DESCRIPTION:Bach’s St. Matthew Passion at Dolby Theatre\nJoin local luminaries Nicholas McGegan\, Cantata Collective Orchestra and Chorus and San Francisco Girls Chorus in an immersive presentation of Part 1 of J.S. Bach’s monumental Matthew passion. This work is noted for requiring a double orchestra and double chorus\, thus creating an ideal opportunity for an immersive listening experience. AES member David v.R. Bowles produced and engineered this recording\, drawing on his research in 3D audio recording\, developed in conjunction with NYU Steinhardt faculty. \nFeatured soloists include Thomas Cooley (Evangelist)\, Paul Max Tipton (Jesus)\, Sherezade Panthaki\, (soprano)\, Reginald Mobley (alto)\, James Reese (tenor) and Harrison Hintzsche (baritone; Pilatus). The San Francisco Girls Chorus (Valérie Saint-Agathe\, music director) joins the performers in the opening and closing choruses. This is the fourth in a series of Bach’s large-scale choral works released on Avie Records. This has been released in stereo and Atmos to critical acclaim. The breadth of experience with this work is staggering: several of the artists have been performing the Matthew passion since the early 1970s. \nTickets are free for AES Members\, use your member number in the promo box. Guests are $5 ($7.18 with fees). \n  \n \n  \nProgram\n6:00PM -Introductions\n5:30PM – Doors open\, check-in\n6:00PM-7:00PM – Playback an excerpt from the piece\n7:00PM-7:30PM – Reception in the Atrium with light refreshments provided by AES \n
