SUMMARY:Summer Listening Party at Coast Mastering
DESCRIPTION:Special Emphasis on Sound Design Projects\nAES San Francisco is returning to Coast Mastering for a summer listening party on August 16\, with Michael Romanowski\, Piper Payne and Jessica Thompson. In addition to traditional music engineering and producing\, we’d like to hear from sound designers\, nature recordists\, sound artists\, and Musique Concrete creators. We’ve got two rooms–stereo and surround\, to play and discuss what you bring\, in a relaxed environment. \nWhat’s new at Coast? Since our last visit\, both studios now have the SPL Iron Mastering compressor. Piper’s room has the Manley SLAM! and Michael’s room has the SpectreSonics Model V610 Complimiter. \nCoast Mastering is in the Zaentz Media Center in Berkeley. Formerly known as Studio C\, Coast’s two newly-built mastering rooms were designed and tuned by acoustician Bob Hodas and feature speakers by Focal\, VTL monoblock tube amplifiers\, A/D/A conversion by Bricasti and Metric Halo\, ATR tape machines\, and all-analog mastering chains with gear by Masalec\, Manley\, Rupert Neve\, Knif\, Esoteric Audio Research\, GML and more. \nWe keep these small\, so advance signups are required here: using the password: musique8\n \nSchedule: \n7:00pm Mixer with sandwiches and snacks\n7:30pm Begin listening \nNote: The entry to Coast Mastering is on the Parker Street side of the building. \nStreet parking recommended\, as the parking lot across the street gets locked at 9pm. Please do not park in the Fantasy Studios/Zaentz Media Center parking lot.
