Professional Audio Equipment and the European EMC Directive
In September 1999 the standards EN55103-1 and EN55103-2 became mandatory for Professional Audio and Video equipment. The requirements of these standards will be discussed, highlighting potential problems and introducing design techniques to overcome them. The seminar has primary relevance to audio manufacturers currently or planning on marketing their product in Europe.
Mark Briggs studied Electrical Engineering
at the University of York, England from 1986-1989. He returned
to York in 1994 to obtain a Master's degree in Electro-Magnetic
Compatibility (EMC). He currently works for Elliott Laboratories
in Sunnyvale, an EMC and Safety test and consulting service, performing
EMC tests and providing design guidance for a variety of products,
including professional audio equipment.
