November 2003 Meeting Notice
Subject: |
Audio and Modern DSPs |
Speaker: | Sami Saab, Analog Devices |
Place: | Cogswell College, Room 197, Sunnyvale |
Time and Date: | November 25th, 7:30 PM (refreshments at 7:00 PM) |
Floating Point DSPs are used extensively in digital audio. They offer the sophistication of floating-point mathematics, tight memory integration, high performance and human friendly development environments.
The main architectural features of Analog Devices floating point DSPs will be discussed. Three algorithms the author has developed will be discussed –
- an efficient algorithm for approximating non-linear functions,
- a wavelet based interpolator
- a sampling reverb.
There will be several DSP evaluation boards available demonstrating the interpolator and the sampling reverb.
Sami Saab graduated with a M.A.Sc. from the University of Victoria in 1999. Sami has held positions with Nortel and Faustus Scientific working with DSPs before joining Analog Devices as a DSP Field Application Engineer in 2002.
