Description

If you're looking to improve your skills and efficiency, Kerry Rose will demonstrate a mix of tips and tricks for recording, editing and mixing using Pro
Tools, highlighting new features in the recently released Pro Tools 8. The new Pro Tools 8 has an updated interface, dozens of new plug-ins and virtual
instruments, new scoring and MIDI features and expanded editing and mixing capabilities. Whether you work with music or sound for film, this presentation
should offer some invaluable tips.

Special Guest Stephen Hart will present a mix in progress and some of his personal philosophy and methods for tracking and mixing in Pro Tools.

A question and answer period will follow. At the conclusion of the program there will be a door prize drawing for a Digidesign Mbox2 Micro.

About the Speaker


Kerry Rose has been involved in the Bay Area Entertainment, Music, Media, and Advertising Industries for over 15 years. With a Bachelor’s Degree in TheatreArts, Kerry spent 3 consecutive seasons with Shakespeare Santa Cruz before returning to San Francisco to work as a Sound Designer and Dialog Producer.
Projects have ranged from games, radio, theatre, television, museums, to web, educational toys, documentary and feature films. Just prior to joining
Digidesign, Kerry worked at LeapFrog toys as an Audio and Dialog Producer while lending his voice to numerous titles. In addition to his current role as
Product Specialist, he is also working as a Voice Talent, Audio Engineer, Producer and Writer. Clients include: Pixar, California Academy of Sciences,
Xerox, Apple, West Marine, Budweiser, Electronic Musician, MacAddict, SAP and many more.

Special Guest Stephen Hart is the current President of the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy and Director of Recording Services at Bay Area Sound Studios in San Rafael. With 25 years experience in the recording industry as recording engineer, mixer, producer and project co-coordinator, Stephen was most recently chief engineer at Fantasy Studios. He has been on staff at The Plant Studios, EMI Italia Milan, Forward Music Taipei, and spent 12 years as an international freelance mixer. Stephen has recorded and/or mixed several hundred albums with total unit sales of 40 million, and an artist roster including David Bowie, Santana, White Stripes, John Lee Hooker, En Vogue, MC Hammer, Tony Bennett, Isaac Hayes, Flora & Airto, Oscar Peterson & Joe Pass, the Neville Brothers, the Hong Kong Philharmonic with Amei, Booker T & Steve Cropper, Stevie Ray Vaughn & Albert King and a host of European and Asian pop artists. Stephen’s Film Post Production credits include Amadeus, Boogie Nights, Airbud, Blue Velvet, and Dead Poets Society. His Film Scoring credits include Titanic, Grizzly Man & Encounters at the End of the World. Stephen has also recorded with legendary producers George Martin and Tom Dowd.

Parking:
Ex’pression College’s main building is the yellow building on the right hand side as you drive up to the campus from 66th and Shellmound ST. The best parking
is on Shellmound. Do not park directly across from the yellow building. It is the IRS building and they will tow cars 24/7. You may however park where the
parking lot opens up on the left hand side going south towards 67th ST.
