The newly finished Studio 880/Mix Manor resides in a completely restored 1886-built Victorian mansion, on the small bay island of Alameda, and includes an art-deco themed 7.1 mix theater and Victorian-Gothic tracking room. The entire mansion is furnished with period antiques.
Producer/mixer John Lucasey will be on hand to discuss the studio’s design and ambiance, in this rare glimpse inside one of the most unique recording studios in the Bay Area. Lucasey previously designed and built the original award-winning Studio 880 in Jingle Town, Oakland, which Green Day refers to in their multi-platinum selling, Grammy award winning album American Idiot, and is the setting of their Tony award winning Broadway musical.
About the Speaker:
John Lucasey began working for a live sound company at 15, and has gone on to record, mix or produce some of the most recognizable names in the industry; including Green Day, Lenny Kravitz, Keith Urban, Norah Jones, and the Kronos Quartet. His recent move to the Mix Manor in Alameda allows him to focus on mixing and producing. Lucasey currently mixes music content for Walmart’s Sound Check series, while he continues to record live and remote concerts, and produce music.
Address & Directions:
After a stint as a Los Angeles, the Bay Area native returned to San Francisco in 1991 to start Lucasey Video/Film/Audio Productions. In 1997, John moved his operation to an Oakland warehouse, where he opened his award winning Studio 880, in a section of town known as Jingle Town, which is now widely recognized as the setting for Green Day’s American Idiot. John has enjoyed much success, working with multi-platinum recording artists as well as some of the world’s top music producers.
