Description:

Maestro Curtis and David Gibson will first discuss the variety of jobs of Producers. They will then present a step-by-step process (outlined in their book, "The Art of Producing") for producing a musical project. They will take the attendees through an interactive process of critiquing all of the components that make up a great production. They will show how each of these components can be refined to create the best possible production. They will then show the mix of the song visually using Gibson's Virtual Mixer concept. You will come away with a clear step-by-step process that you can apply to producing any style of music.

About the speakers:

David Gibson and Maestro Curtis are the co-authors of "The Art of Producing," (currently working on the second edition) the only book in the field that explains a step-by-step process for producing a musical project, and is the only book in the field of Audio that addresses this complex subject in detail.
 
David Gibson is the founder and Chief Instructor of Globe Institute. He has been teaching, engineering and producing groups in major 24 track studios since 1982. David taught Recording at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz for five years. He is the author of the best selling book, “The Art of Mixing,” that uses visuals to explain and show every style of mix in the world. He is also the inventor of the Patented, "Virtual Mixer," which uses visuals of the mix to control mixing consoles and computerized mixers. David has done recording for James Brown's Band, Bobby Whitlock (Derek and the Dominoes), The Atlanta Rhythm Section, Hank Williams Jr.'s Band, and has worked with members of the Doobie Brothers, Lacy J. Dalton's Band, Herbie Hancock's Band and It's a Beautiful Day. He has produced a variety of other records ranging from New Age to Heavy Metal to Hip Hop and Electronica.
David is also the owner of the largest and most advanced Sound Healing Institute in the nation and has produced 3 international Sound Healing conferences. He composed and produced the sound track for, "The Living Matrix" movie and has over 30 Sound Therapy CD's on the market. David has setup a Sound Healing Research Foundation, and has done a research project with Parkinson's patients using sound to alleviate tremors. David has also produced a Cirque style play and is working with their top producer. He is also written and is working on 2 major movie projects.
 
Maestro Curtis, MALS has a strong background in Jazz and Classical music and has three Bachelors Degrees: 1) Piano and Vocal Music, 2) Radio and TV Communications, and 3) Speech and Theatre; and, two Masters Degrees: 1) Music Theory/Orchestration and Arranging, and 2) Philosophy; and a PhD pending in Human and Organizational Development/Symbolic Analysis with an emphasis on Educational Leadership and Change (The Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara, California). Maestro has over 35 years experience in the recording industry and has performed with such artists as Peabo Bryson, The Ojay's, George Benson, Dorothy Morrison (the original singer of “Oh Happy Day”), Thelma Houston, Phyllis Hyman, and Lenny Williams (Tower of Power) and has played with The Count Basie Orchestra (under the direction Dr. Frank Foster), to name a few. He has produced albums with Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire under the Kalimba Records label. He is also CEO of JazzyBoo Records where he is currently developing and producing artists in all genres of music, of which, 12 albums are scheduled for release this year alone, production already complete, including his group the Jazz Hieroglyphics and his solo project. He is working behind the scenes, teaching and producing music for San Francisco local artists highlighting the San Francisco/Bay Area Sound.
Maestro worked as the interim director for Globe Institute of Recording and Production to help David Gibson found the school, along with Sound Healing colleagues, Randy Masters, Lisa Rafel, Jan Circone, Joshua Leeds, Steven Halpern, and Richard Anderson, who helped David Gibson pioneer and develop Globe Institute’s Sound Healing component now known as The Sound and Consciousness Institute of which Maestro also served as a part of the faculty and has co-written with David and played on music for Nutri-Energetic Systems. Maestro has also developed and implemented a complete and comprehensive music therapy program funded by United Way for the elderly who suffer from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. After years of conducting private workshops and teaching in the Sound Healing community and being a college professor for some 30 years, he is now the founder/President of the Workshop Institute of Integral Music and Sound Consciousness (Healing Center) and has produced sound healing music CDs and is authoring books on how to create music for healing.

Facility Description:

Globe Institute of Recording and Production is one of the first Recording Schools in the Bay Area -- founded in 1990. The Institute offers 4 State approved certificate programs and an Associates Degree in Audio Recording and Producing. Certificate programs are in Recording and Producing, Music Business, Digital Composition, and Audio for Media. The Institute also offers Certificate Programs and an Associates Degree in Sound Therapy -- the study of how sound affects us Physically, Mentally, Emotionally and Spiritually. The science behind how sound affects us is also incorporated into the Audio Recording classes.
