Description:

This program will include three speakers, a demo of Dolby's Atmos, and a raffle for a copy of Avid's Pro Tools 10.
 
Scott Wood will discuss how workflow between Media Composer 6 and Pro Tools 10 has been improved through features such as multi-channel tracks in Media Composer 6, RTAS plug-ins, and the consistent naming of attributes between Media Composer and Pro Tools. Scott will also share examples of ISIS shared storage workflows that he's encountered which incorporate video and audio projects. As well as best practices that pictures editors should consider when working with an audio editor.
 
Kevin Perry will discuss the postproduction process on the Art of Flight, the 2011 epic snowboarding documentary featuring Travis Rice. Dolby collaborated with Brain Farm Digital Cinema and Red Bull, utilizing some of the best-of-the-best creative assets of the Bay Area to finish this film, shot on everything from GoPro Hero and 7D to Phantom and CineFlex, to finish and master a 1080p Blu-Ray and Digital Cinema master with 7.1 sound for worldwide exhibition.
 
John will explain and demo Atmos, Dolby's powerfully-immersive new listening experience with more natural, realistic cinema sound that envelops the audience and allows them to hear the whole picture, while allowing for more powerful storytelling by giving content creators unprecedented control of the placement and movement of sound within the movie theatre.

About the speakers:

Kevin Perry's background is in recording engineering and video/film post-production. His current duties include developing workflows for production, encoding for digital delivery, system design and integration of new rooms and equipment, and digital cinema mastering.
 
John Loose is a leading authority on 7.1 channel high-resolution audio production. His conservatory education in percussion and background in game audio have given him the skill to edit, mix, master, and encode hundreds of video and film projects in stereo, 5.1, 7.1 and beyond for Dolby, including such diverse artists as the San Francisco Symphony, Wilco, and B.o.B. A long-time Pro Tools mixer, he also contributed the surround section of the ìPro Tools Overdriveî instructional handbook.

Take Vermont Street Exit. Make immediate left onto Vermont Street. Go 5 blocks and turn left onto Alameda Street. Three blocks up is Potrero Avenue. Dolby is the large, red, 3-story brick building on the corner of Potrero and Alameda.

(Hwy. 80 West)
Take 9th Street/Civic Center exit. Go to the south onto Harrison Street. Follow Harrison to 10th Street. Turn left onto 10th Street and proceed under freeway overpass onto Potrero Avenue. Dolby is the large, red, 3-story brick building on the corner of Potrero and Alameda.

From Golden Gate Bridge
(Hwy. 101 South)
Cross Golden Gate Bridge, take the Lombard Street (Hwy. 101) Exit. Follow Hwy. 101 signs up Lombard to Van Ness Avenue. Turn right. Proceed on Van Ness to Fell Street and turn left. Proceed on Fell until it crosses Market Street and becomes 10th Street. Continue on 10th under freeway overpass and bear right onto Potrero Avenue. Dolby is the large, red, 3-story brick building on the corner of Potrero and Alameda.

Free street parking after 6:00 PM
