Gain Sharing Automixing Moves From Secret Weapon to Mainstream

Dan Dugan demonstrated a prototype adaptive threshold automatic microphone mixer at the New York AES convention in 1974. Subsequently he demonstrated a prototype of gain sharing automixing at the AES in Los Angeles. Forty years later, gain sharing automixing is offered as a feature by Avid, Calrec, Protec Audio, SSL, Studer, Yamaha, and Waves.
